‘We coulda been anything that we wanted to be…’
But are we a juke joint or a book club? A Blind Tiger or a perfectly innocent reading group?
Put a swing in your step and join the Arts Barge Project for our ‘20’s / 30’s Speakeasy on Saturday 21st June at The Boxing Club, York.
Presenting the hottest swing sounds from Rinkadon Jukeboy and his Blind Tiger Dance Band and featuring the sultry promise of Sugar Maybe. Get your moves on to the sounds of Brandy Alexander and his Gypsy Hot Shots – and prepare to be amazed by the contagiously high octane dance skills of the Flappers and Dappers that are Pure Lindy! And don’t forget to enjoy the hell’s a poppin’ live art skills of Leeds College of Art students James Murphy and John Pearson while you sip your prohibition tipple or dabble in a spot of illicit gambling – but do watch out for those gangsters…
So, don your glad rags (dress-up if you feel like it but no need if you don’t!) cos the joint’s gonna jump! £5 students and advance tickets / £7 on the door (doors 7.30pm, 8pm til 12.00). Join us for a delicious dose of (shhh) whiskey-influenced Sloppy Joes for dinner (veggie and non-veggie).
Please note: The venue is not fully accessible. Please get in touch with us about assisted access – there is one wide flight of stairs up to the room.
