The very special Arts Barge GREAT YORKSHIRE SWING is on Monday 18th July at the Great Yorkshire Fringe, Parliament Street. This event went down a storm last year, so we just had to do it all again! We’re teaming up with York’s Pure Lindy to present a stylish evening of 1940’s Lindy Hopping fun to the excellent swing music of The Arts Barge Blind Tiger Dance Band. You can learn how to Lindy Hop even if you’ve got two left feet, and dance the night away in the famous and fabulous circular Spiegel tent where Marlene Deitrich once sang…yes, really!
If you’re not a dancer, you can just soak up the scene – splendid music, spectacular dance performances and a unique historic venue. Don your retro togs, hair-do’s and hats, and don’t miss it, it’s really special. This is a ticketed event – available from the Great Yorkshire Fringe Box Office Bus in Parliament Street or HERE
The Arts Barge Project’s family fringe festival will be back in Tower Gardens at Skeldergate Bridge, July 27th – 31st, as part of The Great Yorkshire Fringe. The five-day free festival will celebrate the community coming together to create a new cultural centre on an old industrial barge. There will be sunshine, music, lovely food and a real ale bar – with our very own Arts Barge beer by local brewer Treboom! Grab a sofa and a pint and relax for some top quality live arts entertainment – here are some of the things you might see — See more details here.
Riverside has no arts funding to support it this year, however the project has strong community support and we can make it happen with your help! We are looking for volunteers for all sorts of jobs, to help to make it a great event. If you’d like to volunteer your time at the festival please email Julie@artsbarge.com and she’ll rope you in! If you own a local business and would like to sponsor the festival, we have three sponsorship packages still available HERE . Or you can contribute a donation of any amount via Local Giving HERE
Looking forward to seeing you!
